Daft Punk - Get Lucky (Vanderway Edit)

Single: RAMBO (Chuddy K)

The 'Gaga Crazy' and 'Brazilian Hair' crooner ChuddyK officially dropped his new hit single "RAMBO" on Saturday the 3rd of August 2013.

A listening party took place at Lafayette on the said date and fans on social media platforms got a chance to rate the track.

For those who haven't listened to it yet, here's ChuddyK's club jam: RAMBO

Single: Chairman (M.i)

After a brief time away from the music scene, M.i released 'Chairman', a rap song with a danceable afro pop tune that will surely appeal to mainstream listeners.

We at BLAZEaMIC though feel the track was subpar…and here's why.

LYRICS:

M.i's either losing his X-factor in the rap game or is just getting lazy. He relied heavily on punchlines packed into his two verse flow that didn't really connect with us. Compared to the depth of his lyrics on his first album 'Let's Talk About It', most lines on this track were just corny and insipid.

"My album sell so acapella…Nobody can beat it"

BEAT:
Either the Choc Boy label wants to create a signature Afro tune or they straight up need more producers. We'll lean back and assume that the song was chosen with Naija distributors and Club goers in mind.

HOOK:

We've grown used to hearing M.i sing the chorus of his tracks with sometimes favorable results. His attempt on this track was similarly good (when compared to his other attempts) but we firmly believe that another vocalist on the hook would have been a breathe of fresh air.

SUMMARY:

M.i does it again with this see-me-too track, but compared to his high standards and previous songs, Chairman was just below average

RATING:
Subpar

Single: Hard to Love Somebody (Arlissa v. Nas)

Arlissa and Nas team up in 'Hard to Love Somebody', a pop hit that's just as impressive as the story behind the collabo of the two artists.

According to the story, after listening to the track from a publisher, the Queensbridge rapper was so psyched up he flew Arlissa to LA just to record a collabo in person.

"The whole experience was completely surreal, my ex was obsessed by Nas, and we used to listen to him all the time." "He just makes you feel so comfortable.” "It wasn’t until I was on the plane home that I suddenly realised, '****, I just did a track with Nas. It’s been an incredible opportunity." - Arlissa

The track itself is based on the subject of a relationship gone bad. Arlissa's showcases her amazing voice on the hook worthy enough to label her as the next big thing. Nas also does justice to the track with his signature effortless flow exemplified with lines like:

"...lick you off my lips like salt and vinegar chips...but now you act salty...verbally you assault me"

The simplicity and grace of the track is matched by its official music video showing the beautiful Arlissa and the HipHop legend going at it.

After listening to her previous track, 'Sticks and Stones', who's to say Arlissa is not the next big thing?
